Motorola's WAP 400 Access Point solution provides a common hardware platform for operation of Motorola's proprietary Expedience or standards based WiMAX air interfaces. When used in conjunction with Motorola's Dual-Mode Customer Premise Equipment, it provides the operator the flexibility of operating an Expedience network today while providing a simple transition to WiMAX in the future.

The WAP 400 features dual mode capabilities utilizing either the Expedience proprietary air link, or the IEEE 802.16e-2005 standards based air link. For existing networks or greenfield applications, Expedience mode operation provides the operator the confidence they have come to expect with the proven Expedience air link protocol. Its dual mode capabilities provide the operator the flexibility of growing their customer base today while planning for a future transition to WiMAX.
